Coolie is gaining attention from all the Thalaivar fans across India, as it is his first-ever collaboration with the director, Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie also stars other superstars like Amir Khan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Nagarjuna, which adds excitement to the already buzzing environment.

This blockbuster movie is available in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. With a massive budget of Rs. 350 crores, the film grossed over Rs. 514.65 crores worldwide. Coolie was released in theatres on 14 August 2025 and had a clash with the Bollywood spy thriller starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. Despite the clash, the South Indian movie managed to make a considerable profit. 

What is Coolie Movie About?

The main story of Coolie revolves around Rajnikanth’s character named Deva, who worked as a Coolie in his youth and now runs a boarding house in Chennai. His life was smooth sailing until suddenly his best friend Rajashekar was murdered. 

Deva, baffled by his friend’s death, decides to investigate the matter and, after a lot of effort, finds out that the murder was connected to a smuggler, Simon. After further probing, he discovers an organ trafficking racket. Overall, the film is brimming with suspense, intense emotions, and powerful action scenes.

In addition to Rajinikanth, the movie features famous stars like Soubin Shahir, Shruti Hasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra. Amir Khan also makes a short cameo. Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao is the main antagonist in this film.

Coolie is Rajnikanth’s 171st film as a lead actor, and it has collected over Rs. 336.2 crores in India so far. The movie also did an impressive collection of Rs. 284.47 crores in its home market. People can watch this movie on Prime Video starting today, 9 September 2025.
