Ivy Entertainment Files Lawsuit Against PMF for Contractual Breaches, Leading to Delay in Raja Saab’s Release
Ivy Entertainment, a Delhi-based production company, has filed a lawsuit against People Media Factory, a renowned film production house, for contractual breaches. This has pushed the movie’s release to 5 December 2025.
What Caused the Delay of Prabhas Starrer ‘The Raja Saab’?
The Raja Saab, an upcoming horror-comedy starring Prabhas, whose teaser was released on June 16, has his fans waiting eagerly for the release date. However, the legal action taken by Ivy Entertainment has rained on their parade.
According to the recent report by The Economic Times, a lawsuit was filed in the Delhi High Court against the co-producer of PMF (People Media Factory) over a significant contractual violation in the film’s production. This incident has pushed the film’s release to 5 December from the initial schedule of 10 April 2025.
What Led to the Raja Saab Controversy?
The Economic Times report stated, "PMF failed to meet critical obligations, including completing and releasing the film on time, providing monthly production updates, disclosing fund utilisation, delivering agreed-upon materials relating to the film, and delaying the theatrical release multiple times.”
Ivy Entertainment and People Media Factory (PMF) signed agreements on film rights and theatrical rights acquisition on 25 January 2023 and 10 March 2023, respectively. These agreements mentioned that Ivy invested Rs. 218 crores in the film. As a result, the company is now asking for a refund of this amount with an annual interest rate of 18% for delays and material violations in the film.
The petition named the directors, Vishwa Prasad Tumbalam Gooty and Subramanya Vivekananda Kuchibhotla. Additionally, post-production vendors, including Deccan Dreams Animations LLP, Qube Cinema Technologies, Prasad Xtreme Digital, UFO Moviez, and Cinema Network, are also involved. Ivy Entertainments is seeking court mediation to stop People Media Factor (PMF) from “claiming and exploiting” any rights.
Prabhas's highly anticipated movie, The Raja Saab, is said to have an annual budget of Rs. 400 crores. In this movie, he appears in a dual role alongside Nidhhi Agerwal, Sanjay Dutt, and Malavika Mohanan. Production began early in 2022; however, due to the current circumstances, Raja Saab’s release was postponed to 5 December.
