Kerala Police Registered an Abduction Case Against Malayalam Actress Lakshmi Menon.

In a shocking turn of events, Lakshmi Menon, the award-winning Malayalam actress who starred in award-winning films like Kumki and Vedalam, has been charged by police in Kochi after allegedly kidnapping and assaulting an IT professional. The South Indian film industry has been deeply shocked by an alleged incident on the night of August 24, 2025, that is now getting serious mainstream media attention.

The dispute began at a restobar on Banerjee Road in Kochi. While Lakshmi Menon was there with her friends Mithun, Aneesh, and Sona Mol, she found herself in a verbal argument with the complainant, Aliyar Shah, and his group of friends. The arguments escalated beyond the premises and culminated in the defendant following the complainant's vehicle down the road and stopping this vehicle, near the Ernakulam North Railway overbridge. 

Kochi police have registered a case against the reports of the crime under several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to kidnapping, restraint, obscenity and criminal intimidation. On the 27th of August, Mithun, Aneesh, and Sona Mol were escorted to judicial custody.

Lakshmi Menon was born on May 19, 1996, and her birthplace is Kochi. She starred in the 2011 Malayalam film industry Raghuvnite Swantham Raziya as a child actor, later making her Tamil film debut in 2012’s Sundara Pandian for which she won the Best Female Debut Award buzz at the Filmfare. Lakshmi Menon also acted in the successful films Kumki and Jigarthanda. 

Her most recent appearance was in Vedalam where she played the lead actor Ajith Kumar’s sister. In addition to the Filmfare award, Lakshmi Menon also has a Tamil Nadu State film award, two SIIMA Awards, and many more. Lakshmi Menon starred in the 2025 Tamil horror movie Sabdham and also acted in it.

While the police inquiry is still in progress, Menon’s legal team managed to obtain anticipatory bail on the grounds of a proper investigation.
