[17th July 2023] Foxcomm, a prominent supplier to Apple Inc., has announced its proposal to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Karnataka, India. The proposed plant, with an estimated investment of Rs 8,800 crore, aims to bolster the regional electronics manufacturing ecosystem and create substantial employment opportunities for the local workforce. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, which included delegates from Foxconn Industrial Internet (Fii), led by CEO Brand Cheng.

The Supplier has a long-standing partnership with Apple Inc., and this proposed manufacturing plant will play a vital role in meeting the growing demand for Apple products worldwide. As a key supplier, Foxcomm recognizes the need to enhance production capabilities and bring manufacturing operations closer to its customer base.

The proposed plant in the Devanahalli Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) aims to strengthen Foxconn's manufacturing capabilities and create approximately 14,000 employment opportunities for the local workforce. M B Patil, the state's Large and Medium Industries Minister, stated, "This would create 14,000 jobs, and the land required for the project is about 100 acres.".

To assess the project’s feasibility, Fii delegates will visit Tumakuru to evaluate the available land near the district headquarters town at the Japan Industrial Township. The meeting, attended by Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge and Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma, emphasized the state government's commitment to facilitating the establishment of the supplementary manufacturing plant.

Regarding the proposed investment, Minister Patil commented, "The state is ready to provide full support, offering land required to set up the manufacturing unit, in the 100 acres of land available in the Japanese Industrial Park near (the district headquarters town of) Tumakuru."

The Government of Karnataka views this proposal as a significant milestone in attracting foreign direct investment, boosting job creation, and promoting the 'Make in India' initiative. By collaborating with Foxconn, a global technology leader, the state aims to strengthen its position as a preferred investment destination for high-tech manufacturing.
