Amazon’s Expansion in Italy Will Create Thousands of Jobs and Boost Cloud Tech
Amazon Web Services has announced a massive expansion in Italy, saying it will invest 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) in boosting its data centers around the country over the next five years. The company said it is furthering a wider mission to push cloud services to higher levels in Europe, supporting digital infrastructure in Italy and rising demand for cloud technology.
AWS recently opened its first cloud region in Italy in 2020 and committed to investing 2 billion euros by 2029. New investment is the reflection of the confidence AWS has in Italy's market and once again underlines the company's European growth strategy.
Creation of Jobs and Local Economic Growth
This project, through its investment, is expected to create tremendous employment opportunities and give jobs to up to 5,500 people. These workers shall be engaged in the work of this project on construction, facility maintenance, and telecommunication as well as engineering. Therefore, several different industries shall benefit from its growth towards the labour force of Italy.
AWS is already serving some of Italy's most notable clients, including the luxury automobile and insurance company Assicurazioni Generali, Ferrari. As such, Italian companies need Amazon Web Services' cloud service. Investment in European Markets
This Italian expansion predates investments that the AWS has recently invested in other European countries. Just last month, AWS vowed to invest 15.7 billion euros in the Aragon region of Spain and also planned a 7.8 billion euro investment in Germany through 2040. These reflect the strategy of AWS in building robust cloud services infrastructure across key markets in Europe.
New Data Center in Milan
The new investment by AWS in this particular location will boost its present data center operations in Milan, according to the Italian media. Milan continues to be a strategic location for AWS in Italy since it has generated a sizeable base for cloud operations that can enable businesses to use advanced technology enablers of improvements in efficiency and digital reach.
