AI-Generated Portraits Depicts World Billionaires Look as Poor

AI-generated portraits depict world billionaires looking poor captioned “Slumdog Millionaires”

An Artificial Intelligence artist created portraits of the world’s richest people dressed in rags and photographers in slums to reimagine what they would look like if they were poor. This AI-generated portrait by an Indian artist, Gokul Pillai, was reportedly captioned, “slumdog millionaires” to create the strikingly-realistic looking images of world billionaires that look poor.

Gokul Pillai, an Indian artist shared seven images of world billionaires like Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Mukesh Ambani, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk, who created their AI images as if they were poor. He said that he creates startling portraits with the AI program and then tweaked them with Photoshop. It took him two days to create the artificial intelligence images. He said, his inspiration came from a rewatch of the classic Indian movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.  ‘The film is set in India’s slums, and I wanted to recreate something based on that,’ Pillai explained. ‘It started with the word millionaire in the title and juxtapositioning it with actual billionaires.’

The viral Artificial Intelligence trend has taken over social media, and artists are now employing a variety of AI tools to produce intriguing results. Artificial intelligence has advanced to the point where people can generate a wide range of images without much effort. Many artists have used this technology to create incredible images. Gokul Pillai uses machine learning algorithms to generate AI images of billionaires to see how they look if they live in poverty. The purpose of the image highlighted the contrast between the lifestyles of the ultra-wealthy and those living in poverty. It shows the conditions poor people live in and it was similar to the hit movie released in 2008, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The image generated by the artist has many aims too or it is morally appealing to the audiences in many ways. Images can encourage people to think more critically about wealth inequality and the poor distribution of wealth. Gokul’s images were also ironic as they depict several billionaires who are actively invested in artificial Intelligence. The images have gone viral creating a social media storm with one viewer commenting, ‘This is epic.’
