publive-imageBeing a small business, perhaps the most common tech problem you might face would simply be that you are, in fact, a small business without the resources to have a tech department. Therefore, any problem related to technology would be worrisome because no one on-site can reliably find a cause and/or solution. If you are like most SMEs in the UK, then you are probably lacking the technology needed to address your concerns.

1. Lack of IT Support

Whenever a small business faces an issue with the technology they have at their disposal, they would probably look for and outsource IT support to London. In fact, an IT company's London-based support team can often address and fix any problems from their remote location. Totality Services based in London can find and fix most issues remotely but they can also offer other services that are most often problems all small businesses face. They can provide you with hosted email, integrated communications, and even file-sharing technology.

2. Understanding and Use of Cloud Technology

Speaking of file-sharing technology, this is another problematic area for many small businesses. They either don’t have the software or the knowledge of the many ways in which they can foster collaboration with cloud technology. Whether working “side by side” in the cloud or simply needing a place to store files for ease of access, this is a problem that many small businesses face and often aren’t even aware of the fact that they are not operating in the cloud. They aren’t aware of just how much extra disk space is available to them or how they can take advantage of SaaS, Software as a Service, which drastically reduced their expenses.

3. Security

Then there’s cyber security. What business large or small doesn’t have a problem with security once in a while? Large companies, however, have an entire IT department that can stay on top of internet security and have access to all the latest technology that keeps hackers and those with ill-will at bay. It isn’t only Intellectual Property that needs to be guarded but financials and customer data as well.

4. Insufficient Backup and Recovery Solutions

Then what would happen if a small business’ computer network suddenly crashed and there was no way to retrieve any data on that hard drive that crashed and self-destructed. A tech team would see to it that everything was backed up daily and stored in another location, most likely in the cloud where it can quickly be called up once the network was fixed or a new computer.

An IT tech team offers so much more than being there to address problems as they arrive. A tech department can seek new technology to automate some processes while continually analyzing and fine-tuning the technology currently available. There isn’t a department in your small business, but you can, and probably should work with a remote team if at all possible. Don’t wait for problems to arise. Contract with an outsourced IT company so that there won’t be an issue with technology that can’t be solved the moment it arises. Lack of tech support can be your biggest problem.
